Hey, I’m Alicia—a suburban homesteader, wife and boy mom 💙
I used to be overwhelmed, overscheduled, and simply trying to fit too much into our lives. One day, I had enough and decided things needed to change, and I’ve never looked back!
I finally realized that if I was going to create the life I dreamed of, I would have to make some changes. One by one, I started clearing my schedule, saying no to time-wasting tasks, learning how to cook from scratch, and enjoying a sustainable pace of life. I am so glad that I did!!
I got clear on the life I wanted, read books, took courses, prayed a lot, and slowly sifted out things that didn’t fit into it. And now I’m ready to share my journey with you and help you create the life you dream of! It’s possible, my friend!
If you’re ready to discover the secret to creating a simple, unhurried life so you and your family can thrive, this podcast is for you!

Hey friends! Do you want to create your very own compost for organic gardening? This black gold will help your plants and flowers grow big and strong!
There are many ways to create a compost bin, you can make one with wood and hardware mesh, order one from Amazon, or do what I did and buy a big metal trash can. I kept it simple 😉 I bought a 32-gallon metal trash can with a lid, I wanted to keep the smells inside the trashcan and the critters out.
The next step is to drill some holes in the bottom of the trash can, this is for drainage and to promote aeration. I used a large bit of drill and created several holes.
Place a layer of twigs or small branches at the bottom of the trash can to promote air circulation and drainage. Add a layer of brown materials. Such as dried leaves, shredded newspaper or cardboard to the trash can. This will help create a balanced compost mix.
Add a layer of green material on top of the brown material, things such as fruit and vegetable scraps, grass clippings, eggshells and coffee grounds. Never use meat or dairy in your compost. The green material will provide the nitrogen needed for the composting process. Continue layering the brown and green materials in the trash can, be sure to keep the compost moist but not soggy. So, after your first two layers of green and brown material, you will want to add some water.
Turn the compost with a pitchfork or shovel every few weeks to aerate and mix the materials. Place the lid on your compost container to keep the compost contained and protected from rain and pests.
Allow the compost to decompose for several weeks to several months, it depends on the material used and the environmental conditions on how fast your compost will take to break down.
When this process is complete you will have black gold to add to your plants that will improve soil quality and help plants grow healthy and strong! I got a big container with a lid, and I keep it handy in my kitchen, when I have fruit and veggie scraps, eggshells and coffee grounds I toss it in the container and put the lid on. Then I have a simple way to make sure that I have some "green" materials ready for my compost bin.

Hey friends! I have a garden update for you. My tomatoes are flourishing, which is great because I can't wait to make spaghetti sauce and pizza sauce. 🍅The wildflowers are blooming new beauties each day. I have ONE huge, lonely spaghetti squash and finally green beans. 🌸🌺🪻🌹I also have a lot of weeds! I'm not using any chemicals in the garden so I'm doing a lot of old-fashioned weeding. 🥵Have you ever heard of lasagna gardening? I am going to give it a try for next year. It's supposed to help with weeds and cultivate amazing rich soil. If you have ever tried this, please let me know!I hope you enjoy this episode! 🌱

Hey friend! Have you been caught up in the cycle of following trends? I know I have been stuck in this cycle before. One day you're scrolling through Pinterest..drooling over all of the beautiful homes, so perfectly styled and curated.
Then you look around your home and quietly decide that your house isn't up to par? So you get rid of everything you own, paint, and redecorate. Then a year or two goes by..(if you're lucky) and suddenly your gray house is so outdated? If you're thinking to yourself, YEP 🙋♀️.
Well, you're not alone. Let's do something fun together, shall we? Let's ditch the trends and make our house a home? It's us and our families that live there anyway, right? In today's episode, I will share with you my TOP 10 tips to make a house a home. We will talk about ditching the trends and creating a home that shows our unique personality. Focus on lighting, lamps, and cozy touches. Filling your home with non-toxic scents that you can customize and mix up yourself, DIY linen spray. Adding texture and layers, have some fun with your decor! Ditching the clutter, keep what you love and what makes you happy, and out with the rest. Adding artwork, family photos, and things that you love. The quirky the better, you make the rules, remember?
😉 Plants, I am a crazy plant lady for sure. A plant packs a punch, warms up a home, and even cleans the air. They can be purchased inexpensively, and you can have a lot of fun with the pots. Last but not least, comfortable blankets and pillows. Let's make our home so cozy that we can't resist a good nap.
Enjoy the show!

Are you struggling to raise children in this modern-day chaos of technology? Video games, smartphones, social media, and all of the platforms? Yeah, me too mama. Romans 12:4 (write this out and put it up where you can see it daily) Don't get bullied into parenting like the world parents. We have a much better option! Simple but not easy. And do not be conformed to this world (any longer, with its superficial values and customs), but be transformed and progressively changed (as you mature spiritually) by the renewing of your mind (focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes), so that you may prove (for yourselves) what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect (in His plan and purpose for you). This is from the Battlefield of the mind bible, amplified version. Featuring notes and commentary by Joyce Meyer. I have a few different bibles, and this is my ALL TIME FAVE! If you are in the market for a bible that is easy to ready, and applies practical, real life, gritty wisdom from a Godly woman this a great investment. The pages of mine are tattered, scribbled, dripped with coffee, and sometimes tears, it's near and dear to my heart. Tho it's no longer pretty, it's well loved and tattered from many years of reading. I love it. You are the parent and God entrusted you with your children. He knew exactly what He was doing when He gave them to you. You are equipped and called for your mission. Don't take it lightly and don't be bullied or swayed into parenting like the world. In this episode we cover...
Why boredom is good, don't let them lose their sense of wonder.
Negative effects of video games.
negative effects of smart phones, social media. All the platforms.
What we can do about it.
spend time with your child, do more listening than talking.
How to pour into their strengths.Let's parent intentionally and not be conformed! Let's dare to live differently and teach our kids to do the same. You got this, mama!xoxo, Alicia
